Getting Started

Capillus® Red Light BRUSH — Setup & User Guide

Five minutes, three days a week. The brush delivers 650nm red light to your scalp to help invigorate hair follicles and support a healthier, fuller-looking appearance.

How It Works

The Capillus® Red Light BRUSH is a lightweight, portable device that packs Low-Level Red Light Therapy (LLLT) into a convenient hairbrush design. As you part your hair with it, 650nm red light energy gently reaches the scalp, where it helps invigorate hair follicles and supports improved circulation and an optimal environment for your hair to thrive.

It runs on an internal lithium-ion battery that charges over USB-C, and every treatment is timed for you: the brush runs a 5-minute session and shuts off on its own when it's done.

Who it's for: The Red Light BRUSH is an over-the-counter, at-home device for adults 18 and older who want to promote healthier hair and scalp conditioning. It's meant for one person only. Please read the Safety & Contraindications section below before your first session.

What's in the Box

  • Capillus® Red Light BRUSH
  • USB-C charging cable and power adapter
  • Manual — a physical copy is available upon request at no additional cost by calling Customer Service at (888) 571-5334

Before First Use: Charge Your Brush

  1. 1
    Read the Warnings & Precautions

Before your first session, read the full Warnings & Precautions in the user manual and make sure none of the listed conditions apply to you.

  2. 2
    Connect the Charging Cable

Plug the USB-C cable into the brush, connect it to the power adapter (wall plug), then plug the adapter into a wall outlet. Use only the USB-C cord and power adapter that came in the box.

  3. 3
    Wait for a Full Charge

Charging takes 1–4 hours. The LED indicator glows red while the brush charges and turns off once it's full.

  4. 4
    Store the Charger Safely

Once the brush is charged, put the USB-C cord and adapter away somewhere safe and dry. Never charge the brush in the bathroom, near water, or after it has come into contact with water.

Using Your Red Light BRUSH

  1. 1
Check the Brush Before Each Use

Give the brush a quick look before every session: check that it's clean and free of cracks, sharp edges, or corrosion. These conditions can irritate or damage your skin, so don't use the brush if you spot any of them.

  2. 2
    Power On the Device

Press and hold the power button until you hear a beep, then press and hold it again within one second.

  3. 3
Brush and Hold Over Each Area

Gently part your hair with the brush and hold it still over one spot for 3–4 seconds so the light can reach the scalp. Then move slowly to the next area, parting the hair as you go, until you've covered all the areas you want to treat.

  4. 4
Let the Timer Finish the Session

A built-in 5-minute treatment timer shuts the brush off when your session is complete. If you want to stop early, press and hold the power button until the device powers down.

Usage Guidelines

  • Use the brush three times per week, spacing treatments every other day. Monday, Wednesday, Friday works well.
  • More isn't better here: using the brush beyond the recommended frequency may not increase its effect, so stick to the schedule.
  • Don't run back-to-back treatment sessions. Doing so risks temporary dry skin or hyperpigmentation.
  • You can keep using the brush indefinitely, as long as you follow the instructions.
  • Stay with the brush while it's powered on; don't leave it running unattended.
  • Use it indoors only, between 10°C and 30°C.

Care & Cleaning

  • Unplug all cables before you clean the brush.
  • Wipe it gently with a damp cloth. Pressing too hard can damage the unit.
  • Never use acetone or any other solvents on any part of the device. They'll damage it and void the warranty.
  • Keep the brush dry. That means no bathtubs, showers, or swimming pools, and no letting water run into it.
  • Don't use or store the brush in the bathroom or near water. If it does get wet, don't charge or use it; the battery may be damaged.
  • Don't charge or use the brush if it has been left outdoors.
  • Transport and store it between 0°C (32°F) and 25°C (77°F).
  • There are no parts inside you can service yourself, so don't open, repair, or modify the brush. If it needs service, call Capillus® at 1-888-571-5334.
