Capillus Laser Therapy Cap — Setup & User GuideUpdated 19 hours ago

Capillus Laser Therapy Cap

Setup & User Guide

The Capillus Laser Therapy Cap is a portable, hands-free device that delivers FDA-cleared Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) to your scalp, just 6 minutes a day to treat hereditary hair loss and promote regrowth.

How It Works

Inside the cap, laser diodes emit 650 nm red light that penetrates the scalp and stimulates hair follicles at the cellular level. This increases circulation and cellular energy, slowing hair loss and encouraging new, healthier growth over time.

The cap produces no heat, no harmful radiation, and no pain. It requires no drugs or topical treatments, just daily wear. A built-in sensor ensures the lasers only activate when the cap is placed on your head.

Who it's for: Capillus treats androgenetic alopecia (hereditary pattern hair loss) in men with Norwood-Hamilton Classifications IIa–V and women with Ludwig Scale I-1 to I-4, II-1, II-2, or frontal patterns. Clinically tested on Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV.

What's in the Box

  • Capillus laser device (fitted inside a sports cap — or swap in your own hat)
  • Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery Pack
  • Universal AC Adapter with interchangeable international plugs
  • Carrying case (select models) — use it to store and protect the device between sessions

Before Your First Session: Charge the Battery

  • 1
Plug in the AC Adapter Connect the provided AC adapter to a power outlet, then connect the Battery Pack to the adapter. Make sure the adapter is unobstructed and accessible.
  • 2
Charge overnight. The Battery Pack has 4 indicator lights on top. Charge until all 4 lights are solid (not blinking). This confirms a full charge. We recommend charging overnight before first use.
  • 3
Disconnect before use. Unplug the Battery Pack from the adapter. Then unplug the adapter from the wall. The cap will not operate while the Battery Pack is connected to power.

After the initial charge, only recharge when 1 indicator light remains. Always disconnect the Battery Pack from the cap between sessions to preserve battery life.

Starting Your Treatment

  • 1
Connect the Battery Pack to the cap. Match the small white arrows on the cable connectors from both the laser device and the Battery Pack. Align the arrows, then push the cables together firmly until secured.
  • 2
Place the cap on your head. Wear the laser device under the included sports cap, or under any hat of your choosing. The cap must be on your head — the internal sensor will prevent the lasers from activating if it isn't.
  • 3
Press and hold the power button. Hold the power button on the front of the Battery Pack for 1 second. You'll hear a beep, and the emission indicator light on the Battery Pack will glow red, confirming treatment has begun.
  • 4
Wait 6 minutes. The session runs automatically. You can continue your daily routine hands-free. The Battery Pack can be clipped to your waistband, belt, or placed in a pocket.
  • 5
Session complete. Three long beeps signal the end of the 6-minute session. The lasers shut off automatically, and the Battery Pack turns off on its own. Remove the cap, disconnect the Battery Pack, and store both.

If you hear continuous beeping during treatment, it means the session was disrupted, likely because the cap shifted off your head. If treatment is interrupted for 10 minutes or more, the session will restart from the beginning when resumed.

Usage Guidelines

  • Frequency: Use every day, once per day.
  • Session length: 6 minutes — the device shuts off automatically.
  • Do not exceed: More sessions do not accelerate results and may cause a negative effect.
  • Duration: Use indefinitely. Stopping treatment may result in loss of new hair growth.
  • Consecutive sessions: Wait at least 10 minutes between sessions to protect battery health.

What to Expect Over Time

Results from laser therapy take time. Take photos of your scalp before starting so you can track your progress.

  • 1–2 mo
Initial Shedding Some temporary shedding is normal and is actually a sign that the therapy is working, weaker hairs shed to make room for newer, stronger growth.
  • 3–4 mo
Shedding Slows Less shedding and a slight improvement in hair density. Significant results typically begin around 4 months of consistent daily use.
  • 5–6 mo
Noticeable Improvement: A visible difference in density and texture. Pair with Capillus hair care products for optimal scalp health and growth.
  • 6+ mo
Continued Growth. Ongoing improvements in hair density and quality. Integrate Capillus into your daily routine and keep going. Don't stop here.

Care & Cleaning

  • Disconnect all cables before cleaning.
  • Wipe the inner surface of the laser device gently with an alcohol wipe or water-dampened cloth.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure; it can damage the diodes.
  • Never use acetone or solvents; they will damage the device and void your warranty.
  • Store in the carrying case when not in use to protect from dust and moisture.

Safety & Contraindications

  • Do not stare directly at the laser light or its reflection for extended periods. Prolonged eye exposure can cause damage.
  • Do not use in conjunction with photosensitizing medications or products.
  • Consult your physician before use if you have scalp cancer or sensitivity to light at 650 nm wavelength.
  • Do not operate the device while it is connected to the AC adapter or power outlet.
